Fascinating article about the brain chemistry of addictions

I wonder if there are similar effects with food addiction (like cognitive deficits) and I wonder if there is a similar 90 day effect with recovery.

Very interesting article. I wanted to comment because of my own personal experience with nicotine. I had been smoking for about 30 yrs. Hardcore pack a day smoker. This last physical my doctor recommended I try a drug called Chantix. Originally marketed by Pfizer as an antidepressant . People taking the drug who were smokers found that they didn't feel like smoking any longer. Pfizer tweaked the drug and marketed it as an anti smoking drug . It blocks the neural receptors in the brain that crave the nicotine. From my own experience I can't say enough great things about this drug. I started taking it in January and stopped in April. I feel great ! I have recommended this drug to several people and the have had similar success. Now I've heard they are going to market it as an aid to stop drinking. Pfizer must be tweaking it again because I still enjoy my glass of wine in the evening. Maybe soon they can tweak it to combat overeating :)
