Sharing Information - Plus size clothing lines
My girlfriend just put me on to two big girl clothing online stores. An alternative to the usual Avenue and Lane Bryant.

www.torrid.com
Just thought I'd share. I also know of a fabulous shoe website from the UK that specializes in nice leather fashionable boots for girls with big calves (like me). they're a little pricey, but worth it. check it out...

torrid
torrid has some trendy clothes. there's a store in my local mall. thanks for the heads up on the duoboots site, they have some nice stuff. hopefully i will lose some weight and wont have to use them although i've had large calves for most of my adult life.

Torrid?
I think Torrid's clothing is cheesy. you have to really look for good classic items. to me the clothes look like they are designed for a Fat Cindy Lauper "Girls Just wanna have fun" type person. too much neon and skull crap.
the other site is nice, i see some of the dresses that the Lakisha girl from "Idol" wore last season. Apparently Mo'nique shops there too, she wore one of the dresses on the BET awards.

11:16, Talbots carries a woman's line that might suit your taste. Lands End also carries plus-size as does Eddie Bauer.

I don't think torrid is any cheesier than any other store that carries junior clothing. they actually have quite a variety and it's nice for heavier girls to have an option other than the tents that Lane Bryant would have you wear.
I used to get so mad-I'd see a manequin wearing something fitted and cute at Lane Bryant, go in, try it on and it would be billowy and loose-of course because they had it pinned about 4 inches on the manequin. NICE.
I didn't discover torrid till I had lost the majority of my weight-I really wish it had been around when I was heavier. Dressing fun/sexy to go out isn't easy when you're a larger size and stores like torrid help!

I work in a professional environment and have to dress accordingly. I try to buy classic styles that are appropriate for my larger size but don't look like shapeless tents. I have had the best success with Liz Claiborne, Pendleton, Lands End, and Talbots. They are all pricey brands that not everyone can afford, but they also have great markdowns on their web sites. Dillards usually has huge reductions on Liz Claiborne at the end of each season. You can also find these brands on eBay at a small fraction of their original price.

Also --- you can find classy, elegant, and sexy (but not sleazy) lingerie, shapewear, and silk stockings at SecretsInLace.com. It's great when you can find beautiful pieces in plus sizes. I'm committed to losing weight, but why wait to look and feel beautiful?
