running question

Hi all! I have a question that desperately needs an answer.. ok, when I run while working out I have a tendancy to run sorta on my tipy toes, instead of flat footed, and it generally leads to just working the clave muscles does anyone have any suggestions of anything I can do to work the whole leg. I dont know why but I just can't seem to get my whole foot on the ground.

I have the same issues, only it worked well for me 'cause I'm a sprinter, so I'm supposed to run on my toes! Only I get REALLY bad shin splits from it. My track coach used to make me run backwards to work other muscles, and also reccomended that i take something heavy, rest it on my toe and do excersises just by lifting the front portion of my foot.

He also made me run longer excersises, slower, and REALLY paying attention to my form. Back straight (which helped 'cause some of the tippy toe thing 'cause I was leaning foward), shoulders back, long strides, heel hits ground first, then toe.

If you keep at it, you should see it go away and the other muscles won't cramp.

Good luck!

Are you running too fast for your fitness level? The above poster is right-sprinters run on their tip-toes, so perhaps you are "sprinting" during your whole run?

Try slowing down-also go to coolrunning.com and post this question on one of the forums. There are a lot of super helpful and intelligent runners there!
