Weight Training

If you are training with light weights and many reps, is it still important to take a day off between lifting days? Or can you lift everyday?

Yes. All muscles need 48 hours to recover and grow no matter your weight training routine. That's why experts encourage you not to train the same body part two days in a row.

I alternate (every other day) my strenth training routine between upper and lower body to prevent working the same group of muscles.

What about Ab's and squats? Daily or every other day?

Both every other day or 48 hour recovery. Most people think you can do Abs every day, but I read that they are still muscle and still need time to recover just like the others.
