question about menopause

Hi all,

I'm 44 and this month my flow is very light. This is very unusual for me, as it's usually heavy and I get alot of pain. Does anyone know if this is the beginning of menopause?

My friend, yes in deed you are beginning the signs of perimenopause, the 5-7 year period (no pun intended) in which you begin to experience symptoms of fluctuating hormone levels. Your periods may go from heavy to light to absent to weeks on end. Or any combination in between.

I would wait until you have at least 4 or 5 unusual periods to really determine if you are premenopausal. If it has been just the one it could be nothing.

I've been having this kind of thing for a while too. I'm 41, but my mom was done by 48, so I'm kind of in that range.

My PMS has gotten much worse too.
