exercise video game

I remember talk on this website a while back about a video game that was basically like a personal trainer - but I can't remember the name or what game system it was for (xbox and gamecube stick in my mind though)

the one other thing i remember is that you could choose the scenery where you "worked out"...i know the beach was one

the cool thing about the program was that you told it your goals and it adjusted your workouts based on your progress and goals

does this sound familiar to anyone?

no this doesnt sound familier per sa but the Wii is an active game system that you have to do physically so maybe that is it. You have to really go through the motions of bowling, boxing, tennis and others so if ever there were such a game I would think this would be it

I think I found what you are looking for. A few high end gyms in the Bay Area (CA) are offering stationary bikes with virtual reality scenery made by Espresso Fitness, the link is below. It costs gyms over $4K, so unless you belong to a high end health club, you probably won't get access to one anytime soon.

I recommend purchasing Dance Dance Revolution on the Xbox or Playstation platform, or the Nintendo WII, but keep in mind the WII's are in short supply right now. The game that comes included with the Wii hardware is sports, with all the games the above poster mentioned.

Have fun!

OP here

Thanks everyone :)

Late last night I think it came to me - Yourself Fitness - does this sound familiar to anyone?

Also, my household does have a Wii and I LOVE really is an excellent workout and it's always fun to see my couch potato roommates thrashing about in the middle of our living room :)

OP again

Ok, so I googled and I found it. If anyone else out there is interested - check out the link below. They make it for XBOX (works on 360 with an emulator...not really sure how you get it though) and PS2. I'll post some sort of update when I get it as to how I like it. Also, it's about $35 for both systems.

I've heard of it; it's supposed to be good. I prefer DDR though; there's a reason I don't make it to the gym, and I think that'd roll over into playing the video game, but, DDR is like a toy and a game, and it can be social and fun.

PS2 Kinetic

There's a PS2 Eyetoy module called Kinetic that has more interactive workout, virtual personal trainer, a variety of cardio, high intensity and "yoga studio" segments. It's a lot of fun and you can design your own workouts as well.
