Trouble creating private group

I am trying to create a private group for myself and my best friend and am having issues. I’ve tried 3 times now, resulting in 3 different groups submitted and none of them show up in my list of groups. I initially thought maybe there was an error, so I tried creating it again with the 1st name I used and then it gave me a message that the group name is already taken…so it must be accepting the groups being created but not showing them in my list of groups. The friend that I am inviting in the group creation screen is also not getting the email that it should be sending her either. I then also created a public group to see if that worked...and it did...except it shows me as a member but that's not showing in my list of groups either. Help?

it sometimes takes a few minutes for it to show up in your groups.. have your friend click at the top on my home page at the top.. it will show a invite there if she received it..

Some time in the last year or so, at least a few months ago, I started seeing problems with updating of the group list when you leave a group that I hadn't seen before. This may be related, though I'm not certain of it. I suspect cookies are somehow involved but I'm not certain of that either. I guess server side caching could also be at fault. But I do think it's a somewhat new issue, whatever the cause.
