Should I get a slow cooker?
I keep reading great ads and wonder if it could work for me. Could i stick fish and vegetables in there and walk away? Do i have to have certain recipes and seasonings? Do the vegetables get soggy? Are there certain things to stay away from? Thank you!

after you know two or three basic crockpot (slow cooker) recipes, you can wing it and experiment from there. definitely buy one. you won't be sorry.
if cost is an issue, purchase something on the cheap at a yard sale or thrift shop, $10 to $20 - then if you like it you can drop $100+ at the kitchen supply on a modern higher end model and donate your old crockpot to charity.
go to your local library and check out some slow cooker recipe cook books. also some crockpot (recipe) blogs. they are also on Pinterest and Facebook fan pages of crockpot blogs.
Enjoy!

You absolutely must get a slow cooker. Nothing nicer than coming home to a hot bowl of soup or stew after a hard days work. You will not regret the purchase, there is so much more that you can do with a slow cooker.

I bought my slow cooker for one recipe and for that alone it was worth it! I've since used it for a couple of things and I love it!

Oh Gosh, yes, get a slow cooker. I have three! You can buy crock pot recipe books, or look online for free recipes. I joined Pinterest for free and got a ton of recipes. I live by my crock pots, and you don't need expensive ones. A $25 model will do, and I bought one of mine on clearance for $15. I suggest buying some in different sizes. I will have a main course in one and side dishes in the others sometimes. I love to cook soups and freeze them in portions so I can have a healthy lunch without having to cook it.

I don't know about fish - does anyone out there know? They are great. I really wish PT had some recipes specifically for slow cookers

gluten free, meat free,& dairy free
I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years, but continued to eat fish & seafood. Recently been moving toward vegan + gluten free. I will probably continue to eat fish & seafood. it sounded like some of you had ideas for slow cooking/crock pot cooking that would work for me. Where can I find some recipes?
PS to real vegetarians and vegans, I know I am not really a vegetarian or vegan. But I am very dedicated to not eating any warm blooded animals for any reason.

I've seen recipes on line for slow cookers where they layer the bottom with veggies, then place tin foil on top of that and place fish inside the foil and slow cook it like this, together in pot, but they are separated by tin foil (or parchment paper)
I'm gluten free, and looking to go 50% meat free and dairy free during the week.I would love any links or resources. Thanks!
