Do People Around You Notice Your Weight Loss?

I've lost 15 pounds since the first of the year going from 176 to 161 and I swear no one noticed. Finally last Friday an friend asked if I had lost some weight. My husband still hadn't noticed until I finally told him. I must say I feel a little invisible even though I want to loose 10 more pounds and probably should loose 20 so I know I'm visible.
So do people notice your weight loss? How does it make you feel when they do or when they don't? How do you handle it?

i can definitely understand your frustration! i have a couple of thoughts on the matter. it's hard for people to notice weight loss when they see you every day, so do keep that in mind. plus sometimes it's awkward for people to comment on it; they don't quite know how to compliment you. i know that i've said "you look great! have you lost weight?" before to someone and felt like i needed to also say "not that you didn't look great before! i mean, um...." and there are definitely people that may be jealous of your weight loss, so they will be less inclined to comment on it, too. know that you are doing great, though! take before and after photos and measurements of yourself so that you can see the difference, even if it takes a while for others to notice. keep it up; you're on a roll!

I've lost 60 lbs and come down 3 clothing sizes since last March 19 (2011) and hardly anyone has noticed. One neighbor asked me if I got my hair cut and DIL said I'm looking like I feel better. But nobody has actually noticed that I'm 60 lbs lighter than I was a year ago.

To keep this in perspective though, I started out at 344 lbs and today I weigh 284. And these people see me every day. I haven't yet encountered someone who hasn't seen me for a while...

People may also be gun shy - afraid they may offend. After i lost 20 pounds I had many friends say, "i was afraid to say anything." And i can see why - Another friend's response to compliments was, "so,what? Are you saying I looked bad before!?". From their perspective Better to just not say anything!

And then when you run into people who haven't seen your a while.... ...In my case, they all asked me if I were sick!! And although I weighed a lot less, I certainly did not look ill.
