anyone know of a true energizer before a run?

Hi, I usually only have time in the afternoon for my run, and it's my lowest energy time of the day. I often have a quick cup of coffee, but not sure it helps. I used to take ginsing, but read it didn't really help. Has anyone ever experienced something that actually gives more energy/stamina for a good long run? thanks so much

I've found my best defense for that mid afternoon lull is to try and counteract it long before then. For me, eating well early in the day (a substantial breakfast & lunch and a decent snack), drinking water throughout the day, getting a good stretch and taking in fresh air helps a lot. Moreso than turning to food after I'm feeling low on energy ever does, but that's just me.

And how long are your runs? You might need a little something during your runs if they exceed an hour. Something like a hard candy during your run can help.
