advice on calorie counting
I am diligently calorie counting... but have not lost any weight in nine days. I do vigorous cardio 6 days a week for 1 or 2 hours a day and stick to approx 1700 calories a day. Do I need to lower my total calories? My goal is to lose a pound a week. Any advice would be most welcome!

It depends on a lot of factors. Try calculating your RMR (link below) to see how many calories you should be eating.
You may also be potentially gaining muscle, which is denser than fat and "weighs more" in less space. So, try taking your measurements and look for changes in shape and size rather than just the number on the scale.
Most of all, don't give up! The pounds will come off if you are truly sticking to a healthy diet and exercise program.

Give it a few more days at 1700, or lower it conservatively, like to 1600. You didn't gain all your weight in nine days, you may need a few more to start losing! Good luck.
