OT - Need gift ideas for someone turning 18

What do you get someone who is turning 18, entering into 'adulthood'. I'm looking for some unique ideas. I thought of 18 holes of golf, 18 lottery tickets, 18 job applications (LOL), etc...I'd like all types of ideas: funny gag gifts, sentimental, practical, resourceful, etc...

Is the gift for a relative of a friend? A friend of mine has started giving her daughter things like a set of dishes, a toaster, sheet sets, etc. for her birthday and Christmas. That way, when she moves out, she has a few things to start out with and will not have to buy everything at once.

Or you could buy a wallet and put several gift cards inside, each with $18 on them.

This is for my son: After graduation in June, he will be going to college. He is one of the most kind-hearted guys I've ever seen...but boy is he a character. He is a goof all the time. hence-gag gift ideas would be a blast! He sometimes scare me because his still acts like a big kid. Although, he often surprises me when he shows how mature he can be (when warranted).

A skydiving lesson

A 'round' of paintball with friends

A gift card to a theater now that he can see 'R' rated movies (that is 18, right?)

A carton of cigarettes (jk)

A voter's registration card, pamphlets or info and a bumper sticker of who you'll be voting for or whomever he opposes ;)

The business card of a lawyer since he's now an 'adult' and on his own if he gets in trouble - haha

Any combination of the last few as part of a "Welcome to Adulthood' gift basket

The Ekhart Tolle book from Oprah's Book Club and a subscription to O Magazine so he can find his true purpose in life :)

I love the '18' of everything idea, OP. That's really cute. I know for me I really needed the money when I went off to college to pay for books and so on. I think 18 dollars in quarters (to do laundry) would be fun.

Gift certificates to local restaurants for a break from the school cafeteria...like Starbucks or Panera.
