OT - Calling all dumb blondes...

Just kidding about the dumb part :)

I have a question regarding highlight maintainence. I have naturally dirty blonde hair that I like to get partially highlighted w/ very blonde (white-ish) streaks. I love the way this looks for a couple weeks, and then its as if it all fades. The highlights turn more dirty blonde and seem to blend in. I'm not worried about roots, bc I dont get too many highlights, so the problem isnt that they grow out, its that they fade...

Does anyone know any products and or techniques to keep very blonde highlights looking fresh?

You should be getting the hair you want highlighted bleached first and then color adjusted with a toner at the salon, this is the best way to go, (You may already be doing this)
Some people with dirty blond hair don't have the bleaching done first and have the highlight dyed in, which is never going to hold up like a bleached and toned highlight.
But if you are already doing this, you may just need a color protectant cleansing shampoo.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Pureology products. They are a bit expensive but nothing makes my color last longer. In the winter I always dye super dark brown and then as summer gets closer I start adding highlights until I'm back to blonde. The purple shampoo - thats the color of the bottle - and the green conditioner are fabulous!! Plus they are cruelty free and don't use any animal products or by-products. Hope this helps!

You can also try Shimmer Lights shampoo by Clariol. You can get it at Sally's beauty supply and even some pharmacies. It's about $10 to $12 but it's specifically to tone down brassiness in blonde and white hair. I use it if my haircolor starts to fade or gets brassy but it's too soon to get the color done again.
