Bikram Yoga

I am thinking of starting some Bikram Yoga classes this summer to help tone up. I have taken a few classes and really loved it, but I still want to focus on running and Capoeria (Brazilian fight dancing! So fun) would it be too hard on my body to do yoga and run on the same day?

Go for it!

Actually yoga is recommended for runners because it stretches muscles we normally would not stretch and improves stability and balance. And we could all use some more of that. I LOVE Bikram Yoga and would recommend doing it AFTER a run and then only after you have drank plenty of water...enjoy!

Just be careful with Bikram for two reasons:
1) Bikram is very sweat, so you might have hydration issues compounded by running on the same day
2) VERY easy to hyperextend muscles without realizing it until hours later - the heat cloaks your body's "that's enough" signal. You'd hate to mess up your great new routine with a pulled muscle or misaligned vertebrae.

Otherwise nothing feels better after a good run or hike than a yoga class!
