At first glance I thought this was a load of &%$%^. But then I started reading the research about how we guage how much to eat - that we tend to rely on visuals (vs. actual hunger or need) - then this method started making sense.

As a creative cook who counts calories I daresay this is the logical result of the two activities. All this does is maximize the amount of food for an acceptly low caloric content while trying to keep some flavor and visual appeal (important to any cook). i didn't really find a lot new with volumetrics, but some folks who are looking for inspiration may very well find some good ideas with it. I long ago realized that I want to see more food for less calories and this approach only reinforces that I'm onto something works for me (and seems to work for others as well).

I'm the OP. I count calories and it works for me...Figured this may help people just starting out or not too sure where to start.

Anyways, the author has the book in bookstores. The above where only 2 of the many links about it. If you google "Volumetrics" - so many other sites are available for more info.
