I am 59 married with 4 adult children. I live on a kibbutz in Israel. I grew up in Detroit. Graduated from U of M lived some years in NYC I was thin until after my first child was born. For a long time now I have struggled with being heavy and with using food for emotional reasons. Lately I was diagnosed with diabetes type II and decided I would try to control it with diet and exercise instead of taking drugs. I started seriously exercising 3 1/2 years ago and participated in a triathlon for women last June. After that my motivation for exercising went down. I attended the Rice Diet last summer for 2 weeks. I got a good start with loosing weight and am trying to stay with the diet I started there. I feel very strongly that I need to be connected with a community for support in my daily struggle. I read about this site in the NY Times on line.


34 years old, in the SCA, lots of sedentary hobbies, couch potato, Type 2 Diabetic with absolutely no exercise regimine at the moment. Thanks to a serious depression I lost 15lbs and have kept 10 of htose off. Now I need to actually work on losing more.
